Very comfortable three-bedroomed cottage with two sitting rooms and two bathrooms. This stylish cottage is set up as a writing retreat, with desks and chairs, reading lamps, and extra plug sockets in each room. We also let it as self-catering accommodation and it sleeps six in comfort. The cottage is handy for public transport (a direct bus to Wigtown leaves from our front door) and for the A75. It is easy to find and easy to relax into. Our 25 sqm decking leads onto a grassed meadow and a dry-stone-built barbecue. The two sitting rooms and two bathrooms make it ideal to share with friends or for a tranquil family holiday. We are two-minutes’ walk from the beautiful bridge of Dee and the Threave walks. There is ample off-main-road cycling, amazing kayaking, and lots of beautiful walks.
A fairytale cottage in a wild and beautiful glen, this diminutive former schoolroom makes a perfect hideaway or writing retreat for two, or even one. Reached by a bumpy track, it lies in the middle of the glen, with the Solway Firth just a mile or so away.

There are botanic gardens whose plants benefit from the influence of the Gulf stream, sandy beaches, cliffs , historic ruins, ancient woodlands, moorlands and lochs. There is an abundance of wild life in this area from soaring Golden Eagles and Red Kites to Deer, Mountain goats and Red squirrels.
The property has been a labour of love by the owners to convert and renovate it to the highest of standards providing excellent self-catering accommodation for six people. Digby Street is a quiet side road off the main street in the charming and popular bustling town of Gatehouse of Fleet.
The accommodation provides a large spacious open plan kitchen/dining/sitting room furnished and finished to an excellent standard. There is a seating area on the first floor landing which leads to master bedroom with ensuite shower room, and further double bedroom and bunk bedroom together with spacious family bathroom with Jack and Jill wash basins. The accommodation has been carefully modernised throughout to compliment the character of the property and you will find many pictures, books and objects from different parts of the world. In the local area you will find many exhibitions, festivals and performances throughout the year.
Gatehouse of Fleet has excellent facilities including a good range of pubs and hotels, mini markets and Heritage Sites such as the Mill on the Fleet and Cardoness Castle. There is direct access to attractive river and woodland walks from the town whilst those looking for more strenuous activities have easy access to hill walking and mountain biking in the Galloway Forest Park on the Forestry Commission 7Stanes Biking Routes. The local area also has many exhibitions, festivals and performances throughout the year.
Gatehouse of Fleet is ideally situated for exploring South West Scotland and had easy access to Solway Coast with its sandy beaches and cliff walks. Throughout the area there are numerous golf courses, opportunities for fishing and other water sports.

The gardens of Carstramon House are largely for the use of the owners but guests may use the pretty courtyard where the cottage is set and the lawn immediately behind it.

All of our bedrooms offer en suite facilities. The house, formerly known as Masonfield House, is full of character with many of its original features. It was built by James Kinna in 1873, who also built nearby Dunbar and Riverstead houses.
We have 2 double bedrooms and 2 twin bedrooms, each with their own en suite bathroom. All rooms feature Freeview TV, tea and coffee making facilities and a hair dryer. A trouser press is available on request. We also have a fabulous 4 poster bed available.
Smoking is prohibited in all rooms. Unfortunately we no longer accept pets in the B&B. We provide a lock up for bikes and drying facilities. We also provide a laundry service if required.

All the cottages offer CCTV and DVD. The CCTV is so you can watch, when in season, the antics of the Barn Owls and Tawny Owls as they bring up their young. You will be amazed how you become absorbed in the drama and antics of the Owl families.
Newton Stewart is only 15 minutes away by car where there are good restaurants and friendly pubs. Mind you, you will have to keep a wary eye open for the deer as you travel. Also Newton Stewart has Shops and Supermarkets where you can stock up with supplies.
