One of the former byres of Borrowmoss Farm has been carefully converted to provide three lovely single-storey self catering holiday cottages. They can be booked individually or as a whole to accommodate larger groups (maximum 12 people). The enclosed garden provides a safe place for children to play.

There are walks from the front door including one to the nearby bird hide overlooking the Wigtown Bay Nature Reserve and bookshops galore. Across the street is The Bookshop, recently the focus of Shaun Bythell’s critically acclaimed The Diary of a Bookseller. Famous for immortalising rude customers on his Facebook page, Shaun is really a nice guy – just don’t ask for a discount!
Relax in our large walled garden with different areas for the whole family. Read quietly in the sheltered courtyard as the swallows dart overhead; picnic at our purpose built table and benches; let the children escape safely to set up camp in the treehouse towards the end of the garden.
Burnside is a charming 19th century cottage just 15 minutes from Wigtown. You’ll find it tucked away in traquil valley surrounded by rolling green fields. There’s no other house close by. Just you, the wildlife and the view. Enjoy a drink in the enclosed garden while trying to spot dozens of varieties of local birds. BBQ a lobster caught by local fishermen or wander down to the pretty fishing village of Port William just over a mile away. Burnside sleeps five in three bedrooms and is available all year. Wigtown, Scotland’s book town is half a mile away with over twenty bookshops selling both second-hand and new books. There are also a variety of local services including pubs, shops, bank and a golf course. The magnificently restored 19th century Town Hall with its library and viewing gallery overlooking Wigtown Bay nature reserve, is a must for any visitor. Annual events held in Wigtown include the Spring and Autumn literary festivals and book fair in May.
For the more adventurous, the surrounding area provides excellent walking, cycling and bird watching opportunities amongst the hills and lochs of the Galloway Forest and along the beautiful sandy beaches close by. Sea, game and coarse fishing are also available.

Cairnharrow is totally secluded and private with stunning views from the terrace across open fields down towards Wigtown Bay and the Galloway Hills beyond. The house is fully enclosed making it very safe for pets and children. There is a secure shed for storage of bicycles. On the west side of this peninsula known as The Machars, to the south of Kirkinner, the award-winning visitor centre at Whithorn explains the fascinating history of the area and its importance as the birthplace of Christianity in Scotland.
