There is direct access to attractive river and woodland walks from the town whilst those looking for more strenuous activities have easy access to hill walking and mountain biking in the Galloway Forest Park on the Forestry Commission 7Stanes Biking Routes. The local area also has many exhibitions, festivals and performances throughout the year.
Gatehouse of Fleet is ideally situated for exploring South West Scotland and had easy access to Solway Coast with its sandy beaches and cliff walks. Throughout the area there are numerous golf courses, opportunities for fishing and other water sports.

The Gardener’s Cottage is part of the stable/garage block. A table tennis room is at the end of the courtyard next to the laundry/drying room where there is washing machine.
The gardens of Carstramon House are largely for the use of the owners but guests may use the pretty courtyard where the cottage is set and the lawn immediately behind it.

Just a short distance from the large sandy beach at Sandgreen or rocky bay at Carrick and walking distance from Fleet Forest walks and picnic area. The cottage is adjacent to the Sustrans cycle Route 7 and is also within a half hours drive of one of the sections of the 7Stanes mountain bike network.

This former gamekeeper’s cottage, built in 1896, lies up a peaceful glen in the Galloway hills. Here you are away from traffic noise and street lights, and on a clear night see the stars.
The garden is a haven for birdlife and red squirrels . A short distance away are the many attractions of the area, with something to offer for all ages.

Nearby Creetown, reached further up the Skyreburn road has the Gem Rock Museum.

Creetown, with its location on the Solway Firth and near to the Galloway Hills, is an ideal location for exploring this diverse part of the country. The area offers salmon fishing on the River Cree, as well as wonderful walking and cycling in the surrounding forests and hills. The Laggan Outdoor Activity Centre provides a fun and adventurous day out. Less energetic pursuits include a visit to nearby Wigtown, Scotland’s National Book Town and the Chocolate Factory at Twynholm.
Lodge Cottage was once the granary and bothy for the farm that have now been carefully and sympathetically converted into a very comfortable cottage containing all modern-day conveniences while retaining an old-world character. Again, the views from
Lodge Cottage has four permanent beds in two large bedrooms while cots and additional full-size folding beds can be supplied on request. Heating is by oil and there are radiators in every room while additional heating by electric radiators is available if required.
There is a full-size oven with hob fitted and the Lodge is also equipped with a fridge freezer, washing machine with dryer and large microwave. Colour television, DVD and CD player are all supplied. Oil heating is supplied free, electricity is by £1 meter and bed linen is included in the rental. Towels will be supplied to overseas visitors only.
Pets are welcome by arrangement and a maximum of two house-trained, well-behaved dogs are allowed in the living area of the cottage with their own bedding (strictly not allowed in the bedrooms or on the furniture).
